Drawing has always been a part of my life… I just lost sight of it for a few years. As a child I was constantly doodling and creating masterpieces with crayons.
In 2nd grade I won 2 drawing contests. One with a tin soldier and the other with a squirrel sitting in a tree. (Thank you Mrs. Rich) But then, I grew up and life got in the way. It wasn’t until I became a mother and re-focused my life that I was able to pick it back up again and regain the joy I felt as a child. Only this time it was with paints and not crayons :)
I am completely self-taught and inspired by what I learn in the studio on a daily basis. Most often it’s a mistake that leads me to an exciting new discovery. Artists have a deeply personal relationship to the art they create. It is a reflection of how they see the world and what they view as meaningful. My hope is my art will constantly evolve and be just as meaningful to others.
I live in Michigan with my husband and teenage son. When I’m not in the studio, I work as a physical therapist assistant in a rehabilitation setting. It’s the perfect balance to the solitude I enjoy in the studio.

Becky,
Just a note to thank you for the beautiful work, Burnt Sienna Blossoms. I have never gifted myself with anything that I love more!
Thank you, too, for the lovely note cards. What a sweet surprise – and something that will make me smile when I use them.
Sincerely,
Diane
